Senator Leticia Van de Putte

Leticia Van de Putte has proudly represented the people of San Antonio at the Texas Legislature since 1991. A practicing pharmacist since 1980, Senator Van de Putte represents a large portion of San Antonio and Bexar County. A former-five term state representative, she has represented Texas Senate District 26 since 1999. On January 8, 2013, she was unanimously elected by her colleagues to serve as President Pro Tempore of the Texas Senate’s 83rd Regular Session. On May 4, 2013, she was sworn in as Governor for a Day. During the 2013 Legislative session, Senator Van de Putte authored Senate Bill 1538 (companion to House Bill 3808, authored by Rep. Marsha Farney) to support Drop Out Recovery schools and students. She successfully worked with Rep. Farney to pass this legislation which had been a legislative priority for Texas charter schools for more than three sessions.

Texas State Representative District 20

Dr. Marsha Farney was elected in 2012 to represent District 20 inn the Texas House of Representatives. Rep. Farney’s district consists of Burnet, Milam and the northern portion of Williamson County including Georgetown, the County seat, and Sun City. As a freshman member, Rep. Farney served on the House Committees on Public Education, Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence and Local & Consent Calendars.During her first session, Rep. Marsha Farney authored House Bill 3808 (companion to Senate Bill 1538, authored by Senator Leticia Van de Putte) to support Drop Out Recovery schools and students.She successfully worked with Senator Van de Putte to pass this legislation which had been a legislative priority for Texas charter schools for more than three sessions.
