Texas Troops to Teachers is a federally funded program which facilitates the training and certification of military veterans as teachers. Texas leads the nation in the number of veterans who have been hired as teachers, many in charter schools across the state. Of those hired, 39% teach special education, 20% in math and science, and 5% are bilingual. 85% are males and 42% represent a minority population.
