Austin, Texas – TCSA is glad to see Speaker Straus and the House Public Education Committee will make charter schools a priority during the legislative interim. As they seek innovative ways to improve public education, we think charter schools should absolutely be part of the conversation. In 2011, we have the highest number of students in Texas charter schools, coupled with the highest public support for charter schools. We look forward to working with House Public Education Committee as their review shapes policy heading into the 83rd Regular session.
