Five Generation 20 Charters Awarded

The Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) today took final action on the decisions by Commissioner of Education Michael Williams to approve five Generation 20 open-enrollment, public charter schools. Only one of the commissioner’s recommendations was not approved.

The five new charters include:

  • A+ Unlimited Potential (Houston)
  • Kauffman Leadership Academy (Cleburne)
  • Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy (Dallas/Fort Worth)
  • The Lone Star Language Academy (Plano/Carrollton)
  • Trivium Academy (Collin/Denton Counties)

The SBOE vetoed the application of Athlos Academy, which was proposed for the DFW area and had been approved by the commissioner in June.
