The Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) today took final action on the decisions by Commissioner of Education Michael Williams to approve five Generation 20 open-enrollment, public charter schools. Only one of the commissioner’s recommendations was not approved.
The five new charters include:
- A+ Unlimited Potential (Houston)
- Kauffman Leadership Academy (Cleburne)
- Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy (Dallas/Fort Worth)
- The Lone Star Language Academy (Plano/Carrollton)
- Trivium Academy (Collin/Denton Counties)
The SBOE vetoed the application of Athlos Academy, which was proposed for the DFW area and had been approved by the commissioner in June.
